Job Description

SMEC (an SJ Group company) is hiring a Senior Bridge Engineer to join its Dhaka office, where the successful candidate will lead the planning, design, and construction oversight of major bridge and elevated expressway projects. The position requires a graduate degree in civil or structural engineering, extensive experience (minimum 20‑25 years) in bridge design, and proven ability to manage site inspections, technical audits, and multidisciplinary coordination. Formal education in engineering is essential.

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Master of Science in Structural or Bridge Engineering (optional)

Experience Requirements

Extensive hands‑on experience in bridge and elevated expressway projects is required.

Design and construction of major bridges or elevated expressways (minimum two bridges ≥1.5 km)
Proficiency with cast‑in‑place, prestressed/post‑tensioned concrete, and structural steel
Experience supervising site activities, inspections and technical audits

Qualifications

Professional credentials and knowledge of standards are expected.

Familiarity with local and international bridge design codes
Ability to produce and review detailed structural drawings and calculations

Skill Requirements

Structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, CSI Bridge)
Concrete and steel bridge design
Project management and coordination
Site inspection and construction supervision
Technical audit and defect assessment
Problem solving and root‑cause analysis
