Job Description

The Asia Foundation seeks an experienced Institutional Engagement Lead for its Building State Effectiveness and Accountability (BSEA) Programme in Dhaka. This senior-level full-time position involves leading institutional support and policy engagement components to strengthen public institutions and advance governance reforms in Bangladesh. The successful candidate will work closely with government officials and non-state actors to enhance organizational capability, leadership, and systems for improved public policy delivery.

The Institutional Engagement Lead will have day-to-day responsibility for implementing BSEA’s Institutional Support and Policy Engagement component, requiring strong political understanding and credibility with government counterparts. The role demands experience in institutional reform, organisational development, and public sector capacity development, along with the ability to navigate complex environments with discretion and sound judgment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful governance reforms while working with a respected international development organization in Bangladesh’s dynamic institutional landscape.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 7 years

Education Requirements

Required educational background:

  • Master’s degree in international development, public administration, public policy, or related field

Experience Requirements

Required professional experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in similar roles
  • Direct experience with public sector reform and institutional design
  • Experience working on governance dimensions of donor-funded programmes
  • Programme/project management and team building experience

Qualifications

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous:

  • Existing relationships within the Government of Bangladesh
  • Experience applying adaptive management approaches to governance programming
  • Demonstrated professional and personal integrity
