Job Description

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is seeking a National Programme Specialist, Emergency and Resilience to lead critical disaster response and resilience initiatives in Bangladesh. This full-time position based in Dhaka offers an opportunity to contribute to FAO’s mission of achieving food security and supporting sustainable agrifood systems transformation. The role involves strategic guidance for emergency and resilience work, coordinating disaster response to cyclones, floods, and other natural hazards, and leading the identification and implementation of emergency projects in collaboration with government partners, UN Agencies, NGOs, and donors.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in Bangladesh’s disaster management efforts, working under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative and in collaboration with various stakeholders. The position requires a Master’s degree in Agriculture with at least 9 years of relevant experience, strong background in crops and food security, and excellent coordination and communication skills. The specialist will manage emergency response projects, support resource mobilization activities, and provide technical expertise in interagency coordination meetings.
