Job Description

UNICEF is seeking a Programme Officer for a temporary appointment in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a leading international organization dedicated to improving children’s lives across the country. The role involves strengthening coordination and management functions of the Cox’s Bazar Field Office, supporting the Chief of Field Office and Deputy CFO with organized, timely, and results-oriented support. The successful candidate will coordinate UNICEF’s engagement with government, sector coordination mechanisms, and external stakeholders while supporting oversight of special projects including World Bank initiatives.

The Programme Officer will play a crucial role in knowledge management and institutional governance through systematic documentation and information flow. This position requires at least 2 years of professional experience in coordination, communication, and community engagement within development or humanitarian contexts. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in AAP, ESS, CFRM mechanisms, strong analytical writing skills, and fluency in both English and Bangla. Requirements

Education Requirements

First University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) in relevant fields is required.

  • First University Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Social Work, Anthropology, Sociology, or related fields

Experience Requirements

At least 2 years of professional experience is required in relevant areas.

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in coordination, communication, and community engagement
  • Experience in development or humanitarian contexts
  • Exposure to or collaboration with sub-national government counterparts

Qualifications

Specific qualifications are required for this position.

  • Demonstrated expertise in AAP, ESS, CFRM or similar mechanisms
  • Expertise in linking/aligning routine programming with national level policy work
  • Familiarity with UNICEF internal systems and processes
  • High quality analytical writing and presentation skills
  • Exposure to emergency programming
  • Advanced skill in MS Excel
  • Fluency in English and Bangla
